After being in Iceland for about a week already now, it was time for the last leg of our trip staring from the Westfjords to west Iceland and finally, the inescapable, Blue Lagoon. They say you should have plenty of time to be able to fully enjoy the Westfjords. We had only two days for the region. We had heard so much about the least populated, least visited by travelers, remote and rugged, adventurous terrain that we couldn’t afford to miss it. So we decided to do only two parts- Strandir coast on the east and Latrabjarg cliffs on the west.

Following the incredible days in south Iceland, we drove through the scenic eastern fjords. Our ride was really amazing. We must have stopped our car a dozen times to stop and admire the unbelievable and surprising beauty. We had read that region is impressive but we were baffled by the pristine, untouched, sparsely populated wonderland. We called it a day and took shelter in the beautiful guesthouse that was perfect to start early the next day and delve into North Iceland.

This post is about all places to go in the southern part of Iceland. Most of the highlights in south Iceland is along the coast adding a great deal of drama and a LOT of wind to the experience. So, watch out for those slamming doors (insurance doesn’t cover this cost!) while getting out of the car and be very well prepared for acute weather changes- sunny to windy to stormy to sunny again. Having said that, south Iceland is glorious. We spent a total of 4 days in the region and still felt that we could spend a couple of days more. But we were aware that we would feel like that in every part of Iceland, so we did what we could in the given time.

Traveling to Iceland is an opportunity that no one should miss. We went there in the end of May earlier this year and we were truly mesmerized by the beauty of this country. Our 13 day trip was absolutely mind-blowing! From volcanic craters to crystal clear ice lagoons to black sand beaches to roaring waterfalls to being in the mountains where you will see no other soul and hear no other sound except the birds calling, Iceland will change your life. Iceland gives you goose bumps, takes you high in the mountains and melts your heart in the natural hot water springs

One of the best memories from our trip to Iceland was hiking tour through the lush green valley of Thórsmörk, named after the god Thór. Apart from the ice capped volcanoes, shining glacial rivers, and deep into-the-nature hidden gorges, what makes the valley so unique is its exceptional geography. Being surrounded by the enormous glaciers of Eyjafjallajökull (yes, the one that erupted in 2010!), Tindfjallajökull and the rear end glacier of Mýrdalsjökull ensure stunning scenery and comparatively warmer weather, both of which make it a hiking paradise.

One of the most popular regions in Portugal, Algarve can be further divided in three regions- west, central and east. Most parts of the year, the central part is brimming with vacationists; we mainly concentrated on the west, also because we had limited time to explore the region. Algarve is blessed with beautiful clear water beaches, colorful coastlines and when we were there in March, we were blessed with absolutely amazing weather- sunny and warm!
